BreathSense Project
EIC Pathfinder Challenge Towards the Healthcare Continuum
Current healthcare often relies on individuals recognizing symptoms and initiating medical help. This Episodic healthcare, where patients self-monitor and seek help reactively, is suboptimal. This approach, often leads to delayed diagnoses and medical as well as emotional burdens. The goal is to integrate technology seamlessly into individuals' lives, offering proactive healthcare with minimal disruption. Offering a future where unobtrusive health monitoring technologies and practitioners provide continuous, real-time support, shifting the burden of early disease detection from individuals to technology.
Breath-Sense is on a mission to developing a cutting-edge portable breathalyser with an innovative clinical workflow, that can provide real-time, non-invasive, at-home patient monitoring. This will allow for the early prediction of exacerbations in patients living with COPD, with the goal to transform patient outcomes.

COPD Patients can experience exacerbations, triggered by inflammation in the lungs. This inflammation releases molecules that can be detected in the breath.
